Valiquette Academy Foundation
The Valiquette Foundation was established to offer disadvantaged children and their families a distinctive supplemental instruction curricula that incorporates critical academics alongside crucial life skills.
Valiquette Foundation was created to help underprivileged (and often underrepresented) children in primary and secondary school succeed through our academic programmes, camps, and success seminars. Our attention to cognitive and emotional intelligence offers a necessary education that results in a tremendous difference.
"Every now and then, as a parent, an opportunity presents itself that has the potential to affect massive positive change for our children. Jay Valiquette and his approach to both education and child and teen mentorship is one of those rare opportunities. Schools, governments and parents should pay attention because the future of schooling is exemplified in Mr. Valiquette’s teachings, words and actions."

About the Founder: Jay Valiquette
Born in Ottawa, Canada, Jay has been teaching, coaching and mentoring children and adolescents since 1992. His passion for helping others, combined with a love of education and his own early academic struggles with Dyslexia, have imbued him with the desire to never give up on himself nor those he helps. In 2010 Jay created the Valiquette Academy.
The reality of seeing children struggle not just with school but also the effect of not having school supplies, difficult family issues, hunger, etc., made him realise the importance of doing more. In 2018 he founded the Valiquette Academy Foundation. Jay cares deeply for every student and is committed to providing each of them with the necessary tools to be successful.
A word from the Director
A life dedicated to serving others
I have always been guided by two ideas.
First, the ideal world is one in which people help others – unreservedly and with great happiness. Secondly, the idea that Edward Everett Hale expressed, that I paraphrase: I am only one person, but still I am one, and I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.
I want to help make the world a better place, and I cannot think of a better way to do that than by helping children with their education. My goal is that through the Valiquette Academy Foundation, we will be able to help every child receive as much educational aid as needed. Our goal is to motivate all students to want to learn, to finish high school, CEGEP, and have the option to attend university. There are three main factors that make our charity work relevant and significant. Our borough has a high population density, a high immigrant population, and a large population of low-income earners. The combination results in shocking levels of high school dropout rates.
Our location is an important aspect of our mission. Our location in the CDN-NDG neighbourhood in Montreal is in strategic proximity to public transportation, many primary and secondary schools, and mostly underprivileged and underrepresented families. These children and youth are at an overwhelming disadvantage.
In response, our organization developed – and validated – a distinctive approach to education that includes, regular academics and supplemental instruction through a holistic approach that includes:
- Preparing students so they can take full advantage of high school and/or a college education.
- Preparing students for the workforce with skills to gain and sustain employment, and
- Working closely with parents and students to ease home/school/work pressures.
- Building in our students the necessary character traits to succeed: courage, self-discipline, patience, and tenacity.
- Creating with our students an understanding of who they are and a vision of the type of person they would like to become as well as defining their path to success.
Ultimately, our goal is to help children to become positive contributing adult members of society.
If you are reading these words, it is because the idea of helping children to receive education is important to you. We hope that we may have your help so that we may benefit more children and, hopefully, create a better world.
